Welcome to Weymouth Foodbank
HELPING LOCAL PEOPLE IN CRISIS
We don’t think that anybody in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide 3 days nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people. If you are in need please contact us on:
07531 167465 or e mail firstname.lastname@example.org
Our policy is that no one will be turned away without food the first time they visit us but we do operate a referral system for future visits and you will be advised about this when you visit one of our foodbank locations. Also our “How to get help “ page helps with this.
We are a registered charity (Registered number 1190974) based on Christian principles and working in partnership with local churches. We started from small beginnings. The Foodbank was set up by Lily and Bob Mockett, operating from Weymouth Baptist Church. It has grown rapidly since then. In response to this, we have significantly changed the way we work in 2020. The separate Foodbank charity was set up, a warehouse was made available and we started working more actively with other churches in Weymouth, especially Westham Methodist and Littlemoor – St Francis. Emergency food is now available 4 days a week at one of 3 locations. We work in partnership with the Refresh group of churches across Weymouth.
In 2020 we provided help to 3378 adults and 1639 children, an increase of 33% over 2019. This is the equivalent of 45,153 meals.
Throughout the COVID crisis we have manged to stay open thanks to our amazing volunteers, including new volunteers who have stepped up to replace those who are or were shielding. We are careful to follow Government guidelines to keep it as safe as possible for all that volunteer or receive food.
If you need help, don’t be embarrassed to ask. We want to help the community – please get in touch.
